Sad News.

John was one of the first people I met when I initially joined the Directorate of Telecommunications [from the RAF] as a technician based at Bridgend in 1969. Like many of us at that time I believe John was Ex military - an Ex Navy Submariner if I remember correctly - with a character to suit!

Helped me to settle in and learn about this new world of Emergency Services and Government radio communications. Typical "Larger than Life" Scottish person - he was also the local union rep! [I think management used to dread the sound of his voice storming up the stairs to their office doors on times!]

A special character who will not easily be forgotten. Rest in peace old friend,

It is with sad regret to announce that Len Clark has contacted me to say that John Hair passed away peacefully on Thursday 29th January 2026 aged 87. He leaves wife Margaret.
